RESEACH ON SEVERAL PROBLEMS OF STRUCTURAL GEOLOGY IN TIANSHAN, XINJIANG

Chen Zhefu and Liang Yunhai (Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources of Xinjiang)  
Tianshan is a folded chain formed from the collision and conjection of two different plates in late palaeozoic era. North Tianshan eugeosyncline (including Eren Habirga and Bogda) is a part of Jungger oceanic crust. The ophiolite suite of middle-late Carboniferous epoch in Eren habirga is well developed, representing palaeo-oceanic crust fragment. Though the comptefe ophiolite suite has not been found to date in bogda area (region), pillow basalt, diobase dikes and gabbro of middle-late Carboniferous epoch are Well developed. Their petrochemistry is characterized as typical oceanic tholeiite and diabase of mantle source, which represent the youngest oceanic crust of Jungger. West Tianshan, Qoltag, south Tianshan and Tarim belong to the same continintal plate,possessing their own characterastics in the long long geological period. Being a marginal basin as a whole, they were in stable geological environment in Sinian, Gambrian-Ordovician period, with similar platform sediments, stable lithofacies and lithological characters and less thickness. Therefore referred as Tarim palaeo-platform. The old platform began to dismember since Silurian period and west Tianshan developed into rift zone, with late Caledonian ophiolite suite. West Tianshan rift was closed in the end of Silurian period,and uplifted in the Devonian. Jungger oceanic crust subducted southward along Bolhinur deeply seated fault and Tu-Ha basin central fault(Ayding lake-Hami)in Qoltag on the side of continent, forming island are zone with cale-alkaline volcanics. K(?)nes rift appeared on the Presinian and Calidonian folded basement in west Tianshau; Jungger-Ala-taw become fore-arc basin, with immature flysch sediments in Carboniferous period. South Tianshan miogeosycline represents stable marginal basin of atlantic type, mainly with mature flysch and carbonate formation.
