Preparation of starch/sodium montmorillonite/polyacrylic acid superabsorbent resin

In this paper, acrylic acid(AA), starch and other raw materials were combined with sodiummontmorillonite to prepare a composite superabsorbent resin oilfield plugging agent by aqueous solution polymerization. Based on this, the factors affecting the water absorption properties of the water absorbing resin were explored. The optimum water absorption performance conditions were as follows: the monomer neutralization degree was adjusted to 70% at 70℃, 0.075 g of N,N'-methylene bisacrylamide, 0.065 g of potassium persulfate, and 3 g of montmorillonite. The obtained product had a water absorption ratio of 251.3 g/g and a salt absorption ratio of 69.2 g/g. The optimum formulation conditions were: the monomer neutralization degree was adjusted to 75% at 60℃, 0.075 g of N,N'-methylene bisacrylamide, 0.049 g of potassium persulfate, and 3 g of montmorillonite. The obtained product had a water absorption ratio of 238.2 g/g and a salt absorption ratio of 81.5 g/g. The sample was colorless and transparent colloids after water absorption, which are pale yellow particles after drying and grinding.
