Variation of Snow in Altay Region in Recent 33 Years and Its Relationship with Meteorological Factors

Based on the data of snow cover initial date and termination date, cover period, average temperature of the same period, average 0 cm ground temperature, precipitation, sunshine duration and average wind speed at 7 meteorological observation stations in Altay area from 1981 to 2013,the change characteristics of snow cover and its relationship with the five meteorological factors were analyzed. The results show as follows:in Altay area, the average snow cover initial date was November 3rd, the average snow cover termination date was April 2nd, the average snow cover period was 152 days. In the last 33 years, the initial days of snow cover had a tendency to postpone,the end of snow was in advance and the snow cover date was shortened in Altay area. All the stations had a significant positive correlation with the precipitation in the snow cover period, the precipitation factor compared with other factors had a greater impact on the snow period of the stations. In Altay area, 57% of the correlation coefficients of the wind speed, precipitation, 0 cm ground temperature, daily average temperature and sunshine duration in the snow cover period,snow cover initial date and cover termination date passed through the test of the reliability of 0.05 and 20% of the coefficients passed through the test of the reliability of 0.001.
