The role of major international organizations in prevention and control of brucellosis

Brucellosis is a serious zoonosis caused by Brucella spp.,which can bring about abortion and infertility in animals,and wave heat in human beings. Brucellosis is prevalent around the world,and this disease has been reported in more than 160 countries and regions now. In view of the great threat to the development of animal husbandry and maintenance of human health,the World Organization for Animal Health( OIE),the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations( FAO),the World Health Organization( WHO) and other international organizations have paid extensive attention to prevention and control of Brucellosis. In this paper,we have described the role of OIE,FAO and WHO in the field of brucellosis prevention and control,and put forward suggestions for future international cooperation in China.
