EFFECTS OF HIGH CARBON DIOXIDE TREATMENT ON POSTHARVEST PHYSIOLOGICAL CHANGES IN STRAWBERRY

Strawberry fruits were treated with 10% and 20% CO 2 and then stored under low temperature (5℃±1℃) and normal temperature (20℃±1℃) conditions. Good fruit rate was recorded and some parameters of physiological changes were determined for various treatments after 7-day storage. Higher CO 2 combined with lower temperature helped keep the fruit fresh, good fruit rate being 80%~90%. Co 2 inhibited the production of ethylene and abscisic acid by the fruit, reduced cellulase activity and redarded the decomposing of anthocyanidin in it.
