Synthesis of Pyrimidin Thione and Evaluation of Its Corrosion Inhibition

Pyrimidin thione,4-(3-pyridyl))-6-methyl-5-thoxycarbonylpyrimidin-2-thione,was prepared with acetyl ethyl acetate,thiourea and 3-pyridine formaldehyde as raw materials,and benzoic acid as a catalyst.Its structures were characterized by 1 HNMR.The inhibitive efficiency of pyrimidin thione on X70 steel in 1 mol/L HCl was investigated with the weight loss method and Tafel polarization.The results showed that pyrimidin thione satisfactorily inhibited the corrosion of X70 steel in an acidic medium.The inhibition efficiency increased with the concentration of the inhibitor,with a maximum of 93.2%.The inhibition efficiency decreased with the increase in temperature in the test.Analysis of the data indicated a spontaneous adsorption of inhibitor on the X70 steel at 303 K(ΔG00).The adsorption of the inhibitor on the X70 steel surface was found to obey Langmuir's adsorption isotherm.The corrosion products forming on X70 steel surface were characterized by SEM.
