Objective To observe the effects of Fructus Corni (FC) on blood sugar and tissue glycogen in diabetic mice.Method The diabetes model was established by using alloxan and treated with different doses of FC through stomach tube for a periode of continued 21 days, while the control group was treated with glibenclamide. Then the blood sugar and tissue glycogen were measured.Results.①The blood sugar in middle and high FC dosage groups were significantly lower than that in control group (P0.001),but there was no significant difference among the middle FC,high FC and glibenclamide groups (P0.05). ②There was no significant difference about hepatic glycogen content between the various FC groups and control group(P0.05),but that contentin glibenclamide group was significantly higher than that in control(P0.01).③The myocardiac glycogen content in low and high FC groups were lower than that in control group(P0.05), but there was no significant difference among the middle FC,glibenclamide and control groups(P0.05).Conclusion:The massive dose of FC may be showed an anti-diabetic effect, but its efficiency is still less than that of glibenclamide.
