A study on the biological characters of banana root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita Chitwood

The banana rootknot nematode (Meloidogyne incognita Chitwood) occurred for nine generations a year in Nanning Guangxi.The duration of a generation was about 30~54 days and generations overlapping occurred obviously.The duration of a generation and the population fluctuation in soil were closely correlated with the temperature and rainfall.When average daily temperature was below 13.5?℃,the rootknot nematode finished its postinfection development within 34 days.The optimum temperature for the development of eggs was 20~30?℃.
