In order to know the yield potential and adaptation of new hybrids bred by International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) , 9 new indica rice hybrids introduced from IRRI were employed to evaluate their yield potential and adaptation to Yunnan, China under different environments: high-yield ecological condition (Taoyuan) and farmer's field (Mengzi) .The results indicated that some new rice hybrids, such as IR66284H, IR77266H and IR77843H, had similar yield potential to Shanyou 63, the widest planting hybrid in China, and could adapt to Yunnan typical indica rice production condition.
