Relationship between Physical Properties and Chemical Indexes of Flue-cured Tobacco in Chongqing

In order to find out the relationship between the physical properties and chemical indexes,the 114 samples of flue-cured tobacco were researched in Chongqing. The results showed that the content of reducing sugar,nicotine,and total nitrogen were at the middle level.The total sugar content is slightly higher than the middle level. But the K and Cl content were slightly lower than the middle level. The ratios of nitrogen to nicotine and K to Cl were all at the middle level,the ratios of sugar to nicotine was higher than the middle level. The canonical correlation analysis results suggested that the positive correlation of leaf density with nicotine and total nitrogen,the negative correlation with the content of K. The equilibrium moisture content of tobacco leaf had positive correlation with the reducing sugar and total sugar content.The pulling force had positive correlation with total nitrogen content,and negative correlation with starch content. The positive correlation of leaf density with the ratios of sugar to nicotine,nitrogen to nicotine,and K to Cl were found. The including percentage of stem had positive effect on the ratio of reducing sugar to total sugar,but negative effect on difference of total sugar and reducing sugar,ratio of sugar to nicotine. The difference of total sugar and reducing sugar,ratio of sugar to nicotine had positive effect on equilibrium moisture content. However,the ratio of reducing sugar to total sugar had negative effect on equilibrium moisture content.
