Since 1996,55 soil samples of banana plantations were collected and investigated from 14 counties of 7 prefectures in Yunan Province. The investigation revealed that the nematodes associated with banana belong to twelve genera, namely Helicotylenchus,Meloidogyne,Rotylenchulus,Hoplolaimus,Criconemoides,Aphelenchus,Tylenchorhynchus,Pratylenchus,Xiphineam,Scutelloneam,Trichodrus,Longidorus.Helicotylenchus is the dominant genera and followed by Meloidogyne and Rotylenchulus .The three genera were commonly found in many banana plantations in Yunnan, and had its highest population density of 3288,2936,6576 per 500 ml of soil in some spots respectively.Geographical distribution of nematodes was analyzed.
