Studies on the breeding of "Yusu 303", a newly-evolved variety of sweet potato

The results of identifying the productivity and essential economical characters of a newly-evolved sweetpoato variety named "Yusu 303"are introduced.In the regional test in Sichuan province from 1994 ~1995, the average weigh of fresh tuberous roots of "Yusu 303" is 28 263 kg/hm2 which decrease 2. 3% comparing with the "Nanshu 88". But its fresh vine yield, dry matter yield, fresh tuberous root and vine yield, dry tuberous root and vine yield, and starch yield are 21 396.0 kg/hm2, 8 649.0 kg/hm2, 49 648. 0kg/hm2, 11 205. 0 kg/hm2 and 5 430. 8 kg/hm2 which respectively increased 19. 3%,4.6%' 5.1%, 7.0% and 20.8% comparing with those of the "Nanshu 88". Its fresh tuberous ot yield is especially higher than that of "Nanshu 88" in productions in Chonqing and Sichuan. The "Yusu 3O3" has good bud bursting and easy storing properties, eary-tuberous-growing, the rate of weigh of 100g tuberous root and over in total tuberous root was over 85%, the conten of dry matter is 30.75%, and producing-starch is 19.32%, and amino acid is 0.844% in fresh tuberous root,resisting to black rot and toot rat, high resisting to stem nematode. The planting area of "Yusu 303" has been popularized exceeding the field of 1×104 kg/hm2 in 1998.
