Studies on the Breeding of "Yusu 30", a Newly-Evolved Variety of Sweet Potato

The results of identifying the productivity and essential economic characters of a newly evolved sweet potato variety named "Yusu 30"are introduced. In the regional test in Chongqing from 1997 to 1998,its average weights of fresh tuberous roots, fresh vine yield, fresh tuberous root and vine yield, dry tuberous root and vine yield are 35 80 t/hm 2,24 90 t/hm 2,60 70 t/hm 2 and 12 50 t/hm 2 respectively which increased 9 31%,14 43%,11 36% and 0 73% respectively comparing with those of "Nanshu 88". The dry matter yield is 9 03 t/hm 2 which decreased 3 94% comparing with that of "Nanshu 88". Its fresh tuberous root yield and fresh vine yield are especially higher than those of "Nanshu 88" in production in Chongqing. The "Yusu 30" has good bud bursting and easy storing properties, early tuberous growing. The rate of weight of 100 g tuberous root and over in total tuberous root is 85%,the content of dry matter is 25 38%,and producing starch is 11 87%,and amino acid is 0 71% in fresh tuberous root. The drought resistance and black rot resistance of the "Yusu 30" is strong.
