The Angle of View of Cross and Paradigm of History——The Reflect and Prospect of Chinese "Socio-Cultural History"

Li Changli
As a kind of angle of view of a cross subject between social history and cultural history,Chinese "socio-cultural history" has been developing continually and smoothly a subfield of history since the end of 1980s.This new trend, both the product of social transformation and the demand of the development of Chinese history,is the echo of and has many differences from Euramerican "socio-cultural history".The past "socio-cultural history" was distinct in narratives, deep description, theory of construction and the like;at the same time,it held some defects, such as the display of the fragment and the complanation, the separation between theory and contents as well as "one-sided theory of value".The future of "socio-cultural history" will play a more and more important role owing to using many local historical materials with the development of the network and the technology of information. In a sense, the angle of view of a cross subject between social history and cultural history may not belong to the particular field of "socio-cultural history";furthermore,it will become a kind of new paradigm of history providing the traditional paradigm of history characterized by its single angle of view of general history or special history with the useful complementarity.
