Rare Earth Element Characteristics of the Neoproterozoic Limestones in Lingbi District,Northern Anhui Province

Petrology and rare earth elements(REEs) had been analyzed for the neoproterozoic limestones collected from the Jiudingshan,Zhangqu and Wangshan Fm in Lingbi district,northern Anhui province,and the REE distribution patterns of the paleo-seawater had been inversed,the results imply that these limestones are mainly composed of calcite,with minor pyrite and organic matter.They have low REE concentrations(10.38×10-6 in average),fractionated light and heavy REEs,weak negative Ce and moderate negative Eu anomalies.The inversed paleo-seawater shows similar REE patterns with limestones,but they have much lower REE concentrations.The high Y/Ho ratios imply that they had not been obviously affected by terrigenous detritus,whereas the weak negative Ce anomalies indicate an oxidizing environment with depth less than 200 meters.Combined with North American Shale Composite normalized Eu anomalies and previous work,these limestones are considered to be precipitated from the normal seawater affected by hydrothermal solution.
