Rare Earth Element Characteristics and Its Significance of Multiple Aquifers Groundwater from Wolonghu Coal Mine,Northern Anhui Province

The analysis of rare earth element( REE) compositions of the water samples from loose aquifer,sandstone aquifer and limestone aquifer in Wolonghu mining area,northern Anhui province had been obtained. The results showed that these water samples from three aquifers in Wolonghu mining area were alkaline in nature,and the three aquifers are low in ∑REE( 0. 046 ~ 0. 15μg /L) and characterized by depletion of LREEs and enriched in HREEs with PAAS normalization,positive Eu anomalies with δEu = 1. 12 ~ 11. 36,and an universal Ce depletion. The positive Y anomalies were found in limestone aquifer. All these features were controlled by many different factors,i. e.,Ce depletion were mainly caused by the environment of redox; positive Eu anomalies were influenced by not only test conditions,the dissolution of feldspar,and redox conditions,but also high concentrations of Sr in limestone aquifer. The positive Y anomalies and high values of Y /Ho in limestone aquifer were affected by the concentration of Sr and Ca,respectively. All the characteristics of REE in deep groundwater and their influence factors revealed that using rare earth element to discriminate the water source in coal mines is feasible.
