Measure Astronomical Azimuth Using GPS and Electronic Theodolite

ZHANG Chao, ZHENG Yong, MENG Fan-yu, CHANG Li-ling(Institute of Surveying and Mapping, Information Engineering University, Zhengzhou 450052,China)  
This paper analysed the method and weakness of the traditional observation for astronomical azimuth firstly. Measurement of first or second level astronomical azimuth by using GPS and electronic theodolite have been brought forward for the first time. Course and calculating principle and accuracy of this method have been discussed. This method have been proved to be viable through geodesic results.
