β′-Sialon Prepared by Microwave Sintering Reaction

The studies show the microwave(MW,2.45GHZ) heating approach can be successfully applied to the preparation of β′-Sialon(Z3) form the powder of aluminium、silicon and alumina,according to the advantage of microwave oven and proper sintering schedule.The effects of preparation condition on the characteristics of product,such as ratio of the materials,ambient,synthesis temperature and soaking time have been studied.The results show that the ambient oxygen and ratio of the materials are critical to microwave sintering reaction of β′-Sialon.When sintering at 1 500 ℃ and soaking 90 min,the properties of sintered sialon are best whose density is near to 3.050 g/cm3 and MOR of room temperature is 150 MPa.
