Properties and Densification Behavior of High Content of SiC Particles Reinforced Al-based Composites Prepared by HPT

SiCP/Al composites were prepared by high pressure torsion(HPT).Changes were analyzed of microstructure,hardness,relative density and SiC particle distribution of the composites with different SiC volume fraction.Densification mechanism was discussed of the composites during high pressure torsion formation.The results show that with the increasing SiC volume fraction,relative density of the composite continually decreases,while both hardness and uniformity of SiC distribution increase firstly and then decrease.And its hardness progressively increases along the radial direction of the sample.With SiC volume fraction increasing,the phenomenon of SiC particle breakage and reunification is more serious.
