Stable Isotopic Analysis of Human Bones Unearthed from Tianshan Beilu Cemetery in Hami,Xinjiang

Zhang Quanchao,Chang Xi'en,Liu Guorui
Stable isotopic analysis has become an effective means to reconstruct diet, social and economic mode of ancient people. This article discusses the mensuration of C and N isotopic ratios of human bones unearthed from cemeteries of the Bronze Age in Tianshan Beilu of Hami. The nitrogen isotope ratios of bone collagen show that ancient inhabitants in Hami primarily ate animal products with only a small amount of plant products. The carbon isotope ratios of bone collagen show that most plant products come from C3 plant.
