Experiment study on vasodilative effects of amentoflavone ethyl acetate extract of selaginella tamariscina

OBJECTIVE To investigate the effects of ethyl acetate extract of the selaginella tamariscina (ST) on vasotonia and its underlying mechanisms. METHODS Using the polygraph,the effects of hexane,ethyl acetate and n-bulanol extracts of the ST for the vasotonia were evaluated with the model of isolated rat thoracic aorta rings in organ bath,and the mechanisms were studied by the point of vascular endothelial cell,nitric oxide (NO) and receptor. RESULTS All of three extracts of the ST had the effects of vasodilation,in which the ethyl acetate extract of the ST had the strongest effects with the dose-dependent at the concentrations of 0.1～10.0 μmol/L. But this effect was almost inhibited after removal of rat thoracic aorta rings and pretreating the endothelium intact aorta rings with NG nitro-L-arginine methyl ester at the concentration of 1.0 μmol/L,respectively. Thepropranolol (1.0 μmol/L) or atropine (1.0 μmol/L) did not affect vasodilation with ethyl acetate extract of the ST. CONCLUSION The ethyl acetate extract of the ST has the effect of vasodilation with endothelium dependent and engaging in NO.
