THE EFFECTS OF ONE BOUT OF ACUTE EXERCISE ON THE FREE RADICAL GENERATION AND THE FREE RADICAL DEFENSE SYSTEM IN HUMANS

The plasma MDA, RBC MDA and RBC SOD and GSH-Px of 14 athletes from university were measuredboth at rest and after exercise (anaerobic and aerobic) on ergometer. The results indicated that the plasmaMDA content was influenced by neither anaerobic nor aerobic exercise, but the RBC MDA content increasedsignificantly after aerobic exercise. The RBC SOD activity increased only after anaerobic exercise, while theGSH-Px activity increased both after anaerobic and after aerobic exercise.
