Studies of sensitivities of influence factors on slope stability based on the shear strength reduction FEM

The effects of various factors such as the cohesive froce,internal friction angle,soil density,elastic modulus,Poisson ratio and slope crest overload on the stability safety factor of slope were calculated by the shear strength reduction FEM.The different combinations of factor levels were arranged by orthogonal experiment.The orthogonal designing results were evaluated by range and trend analyses,and compared with those results obtained by single factor analysis.The results show that several factor sensitivities calculated by two analysis methods are consistent.Under the surcharge for slope crest,the effect of internal friction angle on the slope stability is the most remarkable,and the effect of Poisson ratio on the slope stability is minimum.There is roughly a linear relationship be-tween the stability safety factor of slope and other factors except for elastic modulus and Poisson ratio.
