Determination of Avermectin and Imidacloprid Pesticide Residues in Vegetables in Harbin

Objective To investigate the situation of Avermectin and Imidacloprid pesticide residues in vegetables saled Harbin. Methods A survey was performed from May to October in 2007. Green pepper, cayenne pepper, cucumber, tomato, bean, spinach, rape, kohlrabi, cauliflower and Chinese cabbage were each collected 15 samples from 10 markets and 5 supermarkets, which were detected by high-performance liquid chromatography. Results The detection rate of Avermectin was 41.33%, and the excess standard rate of Avermectin was 37.33 %. Whereas the detection rates of Imidacloprid was 20.67%, which didn't exceed the maximum residue limit standards. The detection rate of Avermectin pesticide were relatively higher in the Chinese cabbage, rape, spinach and Tai Toucai than other vegetables, with the lowest rate of 40% and the highest rate in Chinese cabbage, which accounted for 53.33%. The detection rates of imidacloprid in spinach, tomatoes and Tai Toucai were relatively higher, with the rate ranged from 26.67% to 33.33%. Conclusion Pesticide residues of Abamectin and Imidacloprid pesticide are prevalently contained in vegetables saled in Harbin,and it is time for related departments to pay more attention to the problem.
