Validation and Analysis of Snow Depth Inversion Algorithm in Tianshan Mountain

Snow depth inversion algorithm is generally having a bad performance in special terrain condition.Based on the characteristics of snow cover in Tianshan mountain area of Xinjiang,the general applicability of snow depth inversion algorithm is studied by different terrain and snow depth.FY3B-MWRI data and 98 snow synchronous measurement data(46points for plain and 52 points for mountain)are acquired from December 15,2014 to December 24,2014.The MCD12Q1 data in 2008 are served as ground classification data for FY3B-MWRI algorithm.The FY3B-MWRI algorithm and Chang algorithm are analyzed in the Tianshan mountains of Xinjiang.In this paper,different terrain and snow depth are used to analysis the snow depth inversion error.The outcomes show that the FY3B-MWRI algorithm has a better performance than Chang algorithm for the RMSE of Chang algorithm is 14.18 cm when FY3B-MWRI algorithm is 8.66 cm.The Chang algorithm and FY3B-MWRI snow depth inversion algorithm both had a bad performance in mountain areas.Chang algorithm of mountain snow depth inversion the RMSE is 18.31 cm,and the ground inversion of snow depth RMSE is 9.3cm.For FY3B-MWRI algorithm,mountain snow depth inversion root mean square error is 10.73 cm,and the ground inversion of snow depth RMSE is 4.36 cm.The results show that both FY3B-MWRI algorithm and Chang algorithm have a poor performance when the snow depth is more than 20 cm.
