The effect of kupffer cells on the proliferation of hepatic stellate cells isolated from rats with immunological liver injury and the role of paeoniflorin

Objective To investigate the effects of kupffer cell(KC) culture medium on the proliferation of hepatic stellate cells(HSC) isolated from rats with immunological liver injury and the role of paeoniflorin. Methods Rats were induced by Bacillus Calmette-Guerin plus lipopolysaccharide,KC and HSC were isolated by means of liver perfusion in suit. The morphology changes in co-cluture were observed on the 7th day. The effects of KC culture medium supplemented with different concentrations of paeoniflorin on HSC proliferation were detected by MTT assay. Results KC supernatants could promote the HSC proliferation. KC supernatants treated with paeoniflorin could decrease the promoting effects of KC on HSC proliferation. Conclusion Paeoniflorin can decrease effects of KC on promoting HSC proliferation via modulation for KC function.
