A Study on Colorant Stability of Naturally Colored Cotton
Zhang Mei el al
Due to the aromatic ring, phenolic hydroxyl, alcoholic hydroxyl, carbonyl, methoxyl and coniugated double bond etc. existing in the colorant structure of naturally colored cotton fiber, the chemical property of the colorant is unstable. In this paper, the factors affecting the stability of the colorant are researched, such as pH value, oxidant, reductant, light exposure, surfactant, metal ion, enzyme, wet/hot and dry/hot conditions etc. The possibility of improving colorant stability and repairing discolored products is also discussed.
