Effects of chitosan quaternary ammonium on structure and properties of silk fiber

Two chitosans with different molecular weight are used to prepare water-based chitosan quaternary ammonium salt(HTCC),application process of HTCC sulution to mulberry silk fiber is undergone.The structure of aggregated state and mechanical properties of treated silk fiber are investigated.Results show that the substitution reaction occurred mainly on the amine groups of chitosan.The treated silk fabric features higher breaking strength,elongation percentage,crystallinity,and the thermodynamic stability as well.
