Adsorption-desorption behaviors of cationic fabric to reactive dyes

The cotton fabric is modified by 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl trimethyl ammonium chloride(CHPTMAC) to prepare the cationic cotton fabric, which can adsorb anionic reactive dye in effluents. The adsorption properties of the cationic cotton fabric are studied, including adsorption conditions and adsorption thermodynamics. The influence of desorption conditions on reuse of cationic fabric is investigated.The results show that the adsorption of reactive dye is fit for the Langmuir isotherms. The whole adsorption system is endothermic and spontaneous. When the concentration of dye wastewater without electrolyte is 500 mg/L, adsorption temperature is 60 ℃, the cationic fabric shows the best adsorption property. The cationic fabric can be reused to adsorption of dye and the recycle rate is still 78.15% even after5 times of adsorption/desorption.
