Synthesis of Sterically Hindered Metalloporphyrins and Their Catalytic Behaviour in the Hydroxylation of n-Hexane

A sterically hindered porphyrin, tetrakis (3,5-di-t-butyl-4-methoxyphenyl) Forphyr-in (T_(DTBMO)PP), was synthesized by the reaction of 3, 5-di-t-butyl-4-methoxybenzaldehydewith pyrrole. Metal complexes were obtained from the reaction of metal ions (Fe(Ⅲ), Mn(Ⅲ). Co(Ⅱ), Cu(Ⅱ). Ni(Ⅱ), Zn(Ⅱ), with T_(DTBMO)PP. Hydroxylation reactions of n-hexane catalyzed by iron (Ⅲ) porphyrins or manganese (Ⅲ) porphyrins with iodosobenzenehave also been investigated.
