FLOW BEHAVIOR OF AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS OF POLYACRYLAMIDE THROUGH MICRO-POROUS MEDIA

This paper presents an apparatus for the flow characterization of dilute polymer solutions through micro porous media.The Nuclepore capillary membranes are employed.The influence of the M.W.,concentration,and pore size on the pressure loss characteristics and the retention on the membranes are investigated for a series of carefully prepared and charac- terized aqueous solutions of polyacrylamide.The results have shown that the viscoelasticity and the hydrodynamic retention play an important role in the resistance enhancement.These effects may be important to the polymer flooding in enhanced oil recovery.
