Determination of Trace Iron in Cobalt Sulfate by AAS after Separation and Preconcentration by Coprecipitation with Cerium Phosphate

A method for the determination of trace iron (Ⅲ) in cobalt sulfate solution by AAS after coprecipitation separation and preconcentration with cerium phosphate was developed.Several parameters governing the efficiency of the coprecipitation were evaluated,including pH value,amounts of Ce(NO_3)_3 and H_3PO_4 added.Iron was quantitatively coprecipitated with CePO_4 from CoSO_4 solution at pH range of (3.0)~4.0.The detection limit is 24.8 μg/L for Iron (Ⅲ) and the standard addition recovery is (101.7%.)The interference from the matrix has been effectively removed and the method has been proved to be satisfactory.
