ATOMIC FLUOROMETRY FOR THE DETERMINATION OF TRACE LEVEL OF GERMANIUM IN GEOLOGICAL AND BIOLOGICAL SAMPLES

A separatioin techni(lue based on hydride generation is applied for germanium in samplesolution to be reduced to the form of gaseous germanic hydride (GeH. )and thus isolated fromits matrix,and in result interferences from its accompanied ions are effectively eliminated. Investigation shows that in the medium of higher than 15% phosphoric acid other acids (HCI,H2SO4,HNO3, and HCIO4 )in the concentration range of 1-10% do not affect the germaniumdetermination,rendering the procedure extremely simple. The limit of detection is 0. I ig/gand the RSD is70%. The method is sensitive,rapid,accurate and extensively applicable infields of geology, metallurgy, biology,environmental protection,hygiene and food industry forthe germanium determination.
