Innuence of Achyranthes bidentata polysaccharides on function of T lymphocytes and natural killer cells

XIANG Dao-Bin,JIANG Chao,LI Xiao-Yu(Shanghai Institule of Materia Medica,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Shanghai,200031)
Achyranthes bidentatapolysaccharides(ABP),50-800 mg·L-1 couldpotentiate natural killer(NK)cell activity againstYAC-1 cells and increase the Con A(5 mg·L-1)-induced production of tumor necrosis factor β(TNF-β)from murine splenocytes. However,ABP didnot show any significant effect on both the Con A-in-duced splenocyte proliferation and IL-2 production invitro.ABP 50,100 mg·kg-1 ip markedly promotedNK cell activity of normal mice as well as im-munodepressed mice resulted from cyclophosphamidetreatment. In addition,ABP also raised TNF β pro-duction from murine splenocytes and enhanced the de-layed type hypersensitivity reaction caused by dinitro-fluorobenzene:but ABP had no obvious influence onCon A-induced splenocyte proliferation and IL-2production in vivo. Above results indicated that someof the T lymphocyte-mediated immune functions werepotentiated by ABP and that ABP possessed an evi-dent enhancement on NK cell activity.
