Effect of Pipe-wall Thickness on Load Ability during In-service Welding

Temperature distribution of in-service welding onto pipes of different thickness was simulated by FEM.The effect of flowing of internal media was regarded as forced convection.Based on the numerical results,the remaining strength factor of the pipe can be obtained and limit pressure can be predicted.It can be concluded that with the increasing of pipe-wall thickness,temperature of the points in inner surface of the main pipe show monotone decreasing.However,there is a little increase of the weld pool temperature.While the thickness increases to an extent,the RSF show little increase.
