Evaluation of the Yield Potential of Chinese and Korean Japonica Cultivars

Fourteen Japonica cultivars from Korean Rural Development Administration and Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences were planted at Daying Township in Binchuan County of Yunnan province,which is a high yielding place for Japonica variety.Yield and yield components were analyzed by variance,correlation and path analysis.The results showed that the Chinese varieties got higher grain yield than Korean varieties by 2t/hm2.The variety with high seed setting rate could get high grain yield.The direct effects of the number of panicle/m2,number of spikelets per panicle,seed setting rate and 1000-grain weight to yield were positive.The effect of the number of spikelets per panicle with the direct coefficient of 1.6437 was the highest.The number of spikelets per panicle was the main effective factor to yield.Therefore,the rice grain yield potential could be increased by properly reducing the number of panicle/m2 and vigorously improving seed setting rate and 1000-grain weight.
