THE STUDY ON THE FEATURE OF THE BARK BEETLE (BLASTOPHAGUS PINIPERDA L.) INJURING THE PINE (PINUS YUNNANENSIS)

Ye Hui Dang Chenglin (Institute of Ecology and Geobotany, Yunnan University)
This paper reports studys on the feature of the bark beetle (Blastophagus piniperda Linnaeus) injuring the pine (Pinus yunnanensis) by the tunnel caused by the bark beetle. The conclusion is that- 1 . The bark beetle cann't make the pine die, it only injures the twigs of the pine. It is an essential dying cause that the beetle injures the phloem of the pine stem. 2 . In the spring, the average birth rate of the bark beetle is about 70, and the average death rate of the larver is about 50%. 3 . The analysis of the tunnel size shows that the pine with a 6-7cm breast-high diameter will be dying, if more than 5 female bark beetles injure it inside.
