Nutrients Accumulation and Distribution in Middle-Aged Mytilaria laosensis Plantation

Mytilaria laosensis is a broad-leaved tree species indigenous to subtropical areas of south China,and is widely planted in Guangxi and Guangdong provinces due to its fast growing and high-quality timber. It has great ecological and economic value. In this paper,we analyze the nutrient elements( N,P,K,Ca and Mg) of a 12-year-old( middle-age) Mytilaria laosensis plantation in Gaofeng forest farm of Guangxi,China. The results are as follows:( 1) Changes in nutrient contents for different organs in the same M. laosensis in the order of leaves bark branch root trunk. The order of nutrient elements concentration was N K Ca Mg P in leaves,trunk and root; K Ca N Mg P in branch; K N Ca Mg P in bark.( 2) The total nutrient storage in the M. laosensis plantation was 1 310. 36 kg / hm2. Of the total storage of nutrients,89. 88 % was distributed in arbor layer,0. 20 % in herb layer,0. 30 % in shrub layer and 9. 60 % in litter layer.( 3) The annual net accumulation of nutrient elements of M. laosensis plantation was 98. 15 kg /( hm2·a). The net accumulation of nutrient elements of five organs was in the order of trunk branch root leaves bark.( 4) The net production of organic matter per ton requires five nutrient elements totalling 7. 63 kg,and the nutrient utilization efficiency of the M. laosensis plantation was lower than that of a Cunninghamia lanceolata plantation,but significantly higher than that of Acacia mangium,Pinus elliottii and Manglietia glauce plantations.
