Cytology research on Saussurea tatsienensis Franch.

Lu Qin-yu,Yue Xue-kun,Li Zhi-min(Life Science School,Yunnan Normal University,Kunming 650092,China)  
The chromosome number and karyotype of Saussurea tatsienensis Franch.were studied by root tip method in this paper.The result showed that the S.tatsienensis is diploid.The chromosome number in each somatic cell is 2n=34,2 pairs of chromosomes were submetacentric and the rest were median.The karyotype formulas is 2n=2x=34=32m+2sm.The karyotype of S.tatsienensis belongs to Stebinns "2B"of karyotype symmetry.The interphase nuclei and prophase chromosomes of it were found to be of the complex chromosome type and interstitial type.
