The effects of overheating treatment temperature and cooling rate on the microstructure of hypereutectic Al Si alloy are studied by step casting mould and quantitative metallograph The results show that the size and distribution of primary silicon can be improved by overheating treatment The higher the overheating temperature is, the finer and more uniform of primary silicon is It is easy to restrain the deposit of primary silicon in fast cooling rate, and the big particle structure is restored easily at slow cooling rate Meanwhile, the sensitivity of structure to cooling rate decreases with the increase of overheating temperature
