Laboratory research of nitrogen flooding in Wen 188 block.

Laboratory research of nitrogen flooding in Wen 188 block is an important part of nitrogen flooding feasibility study in extra?low?permeability reservoirs of Zhongyuan oil field. The researches include study of formation fluid properties, experiment of formation fluid/nitrogen pressure?component, thin?tube experiment for nitrogen flooding and core displacement experiment, etc. Study of thin?tube experiment shows that nitrogen and formation crude of Wen 188 block can't form miscible phase; obvious methane peak appeared in the effluent of the thin?tube at the nitrogen breakthrough; and displacement pressure of waterflooding is 4.4 times that of nitrogen flooding. Long?core displacement experiment also reflects the methane peak phenomenon occurs during nitrogen breakthrough; the volume of produced oil is bigger than that of injected liquid nitrogen before nitrogen breakthrough and oil production decreased by a big margin after nitrogen breakthrough. Therefore, nitrogen flooding is feasible for production to extra?low?permeability oil reservoir, and recovery efficiency will be improved by a wide margin before nitrogen breakthrough.
