Characteristics of source rocks of Enping formation in Panyu Lower Uplift - Baiyun Sag, Pearl River Mouth Basin

The source rocks of Enping formation were the main source rocks in Pearl River Mouth Basin. Geochemical features of the source rocks of Enping formation in Panyu Lower Uplift - Baiyun Sag were indicated by organic matter abundance, organic matter types,organic matter maturity and biomarker compound features. The content of organic carbon in the source rocks was high, but the content of the chloroform asphalt "A" was relatively low. The main type of kerogen was the type Ⅲ , a few part was humosa-propelic type Ⅱ. The distribution variation of the source maturity was large,the Ro was 0.6% -1.6% in Panyu Lower Uplift-the north of Baiyun Sag. the Ro was over 3. 0% in deep Baiyun Sag. The hydrocarbon generation had started at about 27Ma ago and oil generation peak occurred at about 22Ma ago,and its hydrocarbon generation time was obviously earlier than that at the slope belt of the sag margin. The parameters of biomarker indicated that the sedimentary period of the Enping formation source rocks was oxidizing environment, and the parent material was mainly terrestrial plants with higher maturity.
