Flowing characteristics in extra-low permeability sandstone reservoirs

The relative permeability curves characteristics of a core from an extra-low permeability reservoir in west China was analyzed. The oil-phase curves are approximate straight line, while water-phase curves are straight line and bow-shape in common. With permeability increasing, irreducible water saturation and remaining oil saturation tend to decrease, two-phase region expands gradually, and displacement efficiency in water-free period and at ultimate stage is enhanced. Meanwhile, the cause of forming relative permeability curves whose water-phase relative permeability is more than 1 under the condition of the remaining oil saturation was primarily studied on theory. Actuating pressure of oil and water and degree of uniformity of the cores are the main reasons.
