On-line Ultrasonic Instrument for Measurement of the Concentration of Hydrogen Peroxide in Water

This paper presents an instrument which measures the concentration of Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) in water by ultrasonics. The principle based on the dependence of the velocity of ultrasonic in an analysed solution on the concentration of its components. Stores the relation of ultrasonic wave transit time , temperature and concentration of Hydrogen Peroxide in water in the EPROM, uses it to calculate the concentration by 8031. To avoid the influence of bubbles in solution used a bubbles testing method. The instrument tests the ultrasonic wave transit time and attenuation, the microprocessor examines wether they are wrong to detect and only uses the correct data to calculate the concentration. So the instrument very stable even when bubbles in the liquid . A high resolution method is used for automatic measuring the ultrasonic wave transit time . The technique yields measurment resolution of one part in 105,high antidisturbance property but only uses simple electronic elements. Experimental research shows the instrument is simple in structure, suited as a fast measuring device with sufficient accuracy for practical uses. The described method would appear to be well suited for the assessment of the concentration or changes in the concentration of binary liquid mixtures enclosed in pipes and vessels. The technique in this paper is also suitable for many other kinds of ultrasonic measurement in industry.
