Microcomputer-based On-line Ultrasonic Instrument for Measurement of the Concentration of Solution

In this paper a microcomputer\|based instrument is introduced, which can measure the concentration of various solution by ultrasound. The principle is based on calculating concentration of solution by measuring ultrasonic wave flying time in the fixed distance. The instrument is made up of SCM and connected with a computer. The relations among wave transit time, temperature and concentration of solution are stored as a database in computer, and used to calculate concentration by computer. The database is a open system, it can be appended by users. The microprocessor in the instrument could deal with ultrasonic wave transit time and attenuation using digital technology to get rid of disturbance of bubbles in liquid. So the instrument can be stably used when bubbles are existed in liquid. With a high accurate measuring method of automatic transit time, measurement error is less than 0.5ns and concentration error is less than 0.20%.
