Monitor of Indistinct Interface Level by Ultrasonic Technique

In primary and secondary clarifier tanks the need to monitor and control sludge level is paramount to the efficient operation of treatment or water plant.It is critical to measure the exact location of the liquid/solid interface.In this paper a system for monitoring indistinct interface level is introduced.The level is resolved according to the attenuated ultrasonic intensity which is suspensates′concentration dependent.System design is presented in details.Three sensors are incorporated in the system,an ultrasonic sensor,an integrated temperature sensor and a position sensor.Calibration and the compensation for the temperature effect of ultrasonic sensor,the absorption property of water are discussed.The system has found its usage in water plant and is proved to be successful.
