Preparation and structure properties of TiO_2/MMT composite photocatalysis material

Nanometer TiO2 photocatalytic material was prepared by a sol-gel method using tetrabutyl titanate as raw material.The amounts of distilled water,nitric acid and reaction temperature on the properties of TiO2 were investigated.TiO2/MMT composite material was prepared using MMT as matrix,and the structure of product was characterized by XRD and FT-IR.The degradation behavior of the prepared material to Methylene Blue was studied.The results indicated that the anatase TiO2 had inserted pillared into the interlayers of MMT and formed TiO2 pillar of molecular level.The doped TiO2 led to the change of property of ions among MMT,which was responsible for the higher photocatalytic degradation efficiency of TiO2/MMT composite material than pure TiO2 powder.Furthermore,there was synergy effect between absorption and photodegradation.The degradation rate o the TiO2/MMT composite material to Methylene Blue reached up 95% after irradiated 40 mins with ultraviolet light.
