FAILURE PATTERN AND NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF LANDSLIDE STABILITY OF STRATIFIED ROCK

The geologic characteristic and physico mechanical properties of stratified rock are studied. It is shown that the shear fracture and tension fracture are the major deformation damage patterns of the stratified rock. The shear strengths of structural plane and rock are the major property of this kind of rock. Deformation damage patterns of the slope constituted by stratified rock are classified into four types. In addition, the stability of landslide developed on these slopes is simulated by numerical method. It is important problem how to choose a reasonable failure criterion in the analysis of slope stability.
