Explicit Lagraugian finite-difference method is used to simulate the behavior ofstructures built of soil,rock or other materials which may undergo plastic flow when theiryeild limit is reached.The basic principle of this method is introduced briefly in this paper.As an example,the feature of deformation and failure of a intake slope cutting underdifferent conditions is simulated by it,and the stabilizing effects of cable anchorages areexamined.It shows that explicit Lagrangian finite-difference analysis has more advantagesover routine methods for slope stability analysis.
