ON THE APPLICATION OF INITIAL STRONTIUM ISOTOPE RATIOS IN DIVISION OF GRANITE GENETIC TYPES

Based on the diagram of I-values(initial ~(87)Sr/~(86)Sr ratios)for granite genetic classification (based on Wu Liren, 1985, slightly modified), three linear equations nepresenting AB,CD EF lines in Fig. 1 and have been presented in this paper. AB Y_1=0.704-0.00011t CD Y_2=0.7092-0.000247t EF Y_3=0.7184-0.000616t t--age of a granite body, in hundred Ma; Y_1--I-value of mantle on AB line; Y_2--I-value of lower continental crust on CD line; Y_3--I-value of upper continental crust on EF line. Using these equations, we can calculate the I-values of mantle, lower and upper continental crust of the same age as that of a granite body known, and there by the granite genetic type can be accurately degined. Moreover, the author also made a formula for calculating the percentage(μ) of mantle-source materials in granite. It is as follows: μ=((Ic-Ii))/((Ic-Im))×100% Ic--I-value of lower continental crust on CD line; Im--I-value of mantle on AB line; Ii--I-value of granite body. According to the formula and equations mentioned above, the percentage of mantle-source materials in granite may be roughly evaluated.
